How to quit smoking if I don’t want to – skeptic and monkey

How to quit smoking if I don't want to - skeptic and monkey.

Who’s the skeptic here, and who’s the monkey?

You’ll have to figure it out for yourself. In the process of reading, you’ll find yourself. One morning you woke up and decided to quit smoking. You’re tired of headaches. You want to lead a healthier and more productive lifestyle instead of the one you’re leading. Although you’re not complaining about life, because you’re well off: a beautiful apartment, a good car, money for travel. And that smell is with you everywhere: coffee for smokers, restaurants for smokers.

In general, you are in captivity not of your own beliefs.

However, you don’t think so, because the views that are deeply entrenched inside, the brain considers its own beliefs. But this is not the case at all, but you do not need to know about it, because you are used to thinking that you are the smartest. But the thing is, you are used to thinking that way, but in reality, you do not think, you just imitate life with all its manifestations.

And the most insightful thing in all of this:

that others, stuck on the same plateau, will support your illusions, and even your grandiose fabrications. But to materialize them, they won’t help you, because they’re here to sustain your illusions and assist in creating new ones. You see, people are accustomed to soothing and distracting themselves in this manner.

So your decision, which you made in the morning, is correct, to the extent that years will be added. And then, along your way, you encounter one of your imitators, and a conversation ensues. You say, “Imagine, I woke up this morning, and I decided to quit smoking,” and in response, you hear, “Yeah, you know, that’s a great idea.” Thereby, he devalued your perception of your decision because an idea is something that does not have precise and fundamental justification.

And after that, he says,

I once tried, you know, I lasted for a few weeks, and then started again, couldn’t resist, I had dreams, desires overwhelmed me, and overall, I started smoking again, so I’m back in captivity.” It seems like he’s suggesting that you’ll have to endure it, as if it’s suffering. Then he mentions having nightmares, strong desires, and not being able to resist, so he gave in and started smoking again.

What’s our conclusion?
